A Stained Glass Window- Period 1

1. What scene from Acts 9 is illustrated in this window from the Hayes Chapel?

2. Stained glass windows are not effective without a light  that passes through them. Comment on this light in both the literal and spiritual sense.

3. Stained glass windows can only be properly seen from the inside. Comment on this observation.

4. Explain why it may be said that saints are like windows that allow God to use them to help others.

4. If you could add  two stained glass windows to the Hayes Chapel what two saint would you choose. Explain your choices,

1.the scene from the glass stained window is Paul blinded and being converted into saul.jesus is the light talking to paal.

2.in a literal sesne you wont be able to clearly see the stained glasses story without light, and in the spiritual sense the light of god takes up everything which allows us to see the stories of paul and the other saints on the glass.

3.the glass painting can only be seen from inside because the light has to shine through it to be seen.

4.saints are like windows that allow god to help others by telling stories about god or Jesus

    5. i f i can add two windows i would add tobit because he shows love for his faith as a martyr , and Isaiah

1.The scence illustrated in the window was Saint paul being blinded.

2.Without the light in the chapel the illustration cant be seen because of how dark it is.In spiritual sense the light is god trying to show us something powerful.Even if the lights are off and you stand there your eyes will adjust to your enviroment and show whats in front of you.

3.They can only been seen from the inside because if you were on the outside you wouldnt see the details of the illustration being shown. It will almost be like your looking at nothing.

4.This could be said because the saints that are illustrated on the window are people who took their whole entire life and dedicated it to their communtiy. Also some could be for motavation and a guide in life...etc

5.I would add Julia Greely and Elizabeth lange because these woman who went out their way and created groups of woman so they can help others. They give me hope in life and taught me to never give up in what i believe in.

    The Conversion of Saul.

The light is needed because its the source that lights it up so we can have a better visual Of the picture. The light that also lights up the stained glass widows is Jesus Because he is the light of the world and it shops how those saints gave up there life for Jesus.

This Stained glass widow shows that Jesus calls saul to stop Persecuting him and to follow him he falls to the ground and saw a beam of light and a voice.

Saints are like widows because they are role models to follow.
To see how there lives relate to ours. Also it shows that anybody can become a saint.

2 Saints I would add to the chapel are Saint Maximilian Kolbe, Because He was a friar who volunteered to die in place for a stranger who had a family in Auschwitz, and St Augustine.
St Augustine was a Saint who had a conversion Just like paul, he would disobey god and worship false gods , but he had a Metanoia which changed his life forever.

  4. 1. the scene from acts chapter 9 being illustrated in the stained glass window is saul falling blind, on his way to persecute christians.

2.at night you cant see the stained glass windows if the lights are off. these stained glass windows all tell a story, and those stories are important because God shined his light on each and every individual who is in a stained glass window, for example saul persecuted christians before Jesus stopped him, blinded him, and shined his glorius light upon him to change his life completely.

3.this observation may be true, i myself have never seen the chapel from the outside, but this also may not be true for chapels such as St. Patricks cathedral which has large stained glass windows.

4.because saints allow Gods light to shine on them, and people see this glorious light and credit them as saints because of the way the light of God had shined through them.

    5. i would choose a stained glass window of the story of sampson, because it is a very good lesson to listen to God.also the story of jonah because it shows what happens when you try to resist Gods will for your life.

1.) The scene from Acts 9 shown in the window is when Saul fell to the ground due to a flash of light and he hears Jesus’ who says “Saul,Saul why are persecuting me”.
2.) The light allows us to see the window which can be viewed as God allowing us to view his presence on earth through the saints as God is the light and the Saints are his presence on Earth.
3.) The stained glass only being able to be seen on the inside could represent that being in God's presence, that being the chapel, will allow us the light of world, those being the saints.
4.) The Saints could been as windows as they give us a glimpse of God in our lives and a demonstration of how to act.
5.) Saint Kitzito, should have a stained glass window not just he was killed by King Mwanga the 2nd, but because he shows that even his young age he can still give a shining example of God’s presence in our lives, and showing that hayesmen in young age can still be an example of God’s presence. Mother Cabrini also deserves a window in the Hayes chapel her acts of guiding of helping the sick, immigrants, and illiterate gives a great example of how Hayesmen can assist not only themselves but others as well.

  9. 1. The scene in Acts 9 is saul falling blind on his way to kill christians.
    2. The light shows the true colors of the stained glass window. I️ts a function of lending to the church a distinctive and appropriate ambience. I️t inclines us to proceed reverently and lower our voices
    3. Shows us our Holy role models while we are in mass so I️t anyhow we can reflect with the Gospel reading. I️t gives us a sense of peace while in church
    4. The saints help us open the gates to realization of where God is. Sometimes we may wonder off onto the wrong path and the correct saint will gives us a sense that we need to come back to our Father
    5. I would add Mary the mother because she is our perfect model and “bridge” to the Son. I would additional add Saint John the Baptist. The cousin of Jesus and most profound prophet known to our New Tesanment.

    1. The scene in Act 9 being illustrated is when Jesus confronted Saul
    2. Stained glass requires light to pass through so the image may be visible. In the spiritual sense it’s almost a metaphor saying G-d is light which can help you see everything much more easier.
    3. Stained glass windows only being able to be seen from the inside, this encourages people outside the church to come inside and observe.
    4. Saints are like stained glass windows because G-d shines a light on them and they become easier to see and G-ds light gives the saints grace to help us.
    5. St. Martin de Porres – I would add St. Martin because there aren’t any saints of color in our chapel and it is important to have inspirational people of our color who are recognized in our church, especially since people of our age and color aren’t really involved in our church.
St. Jerome – I would add St. Jerome because he challenges us to pick up the bible to absorb all the words, people usually disregard the bible so it’s very important that we have this influence. He is an ambassador for the Bible.

    2. Stained glass windows are not effective without a light  that passes through them because the light is an inspiration like the Hv2 light from the horizon om the roof

    3. This is because light is needed enable to look at the image of god by the example of the stained glass windows

4.The saints are like the stained glass windows because you cant see the windows without light shining on it and without light life cant continue

    5. If I could add two windows I would put tobit and this is because tobit fought for what he was right which was buring dead people when he knew he wasn't allowed too and another window I would add is st adam and eve for eating the fruit of the tree.
